This would be the only reason I would buy an iPad. Being almost 49 I don't even want to know how much money I blew playing all the great old school arcade games. If I had the money I'd blow it on getting this, alas with one kid in college and another getting there in four years I won't be spending any money on Apple's iToys anytime soon.

Hey,
I have noticed my iphone 4 gets hot after recording for more than 2 mins, and it also heats up when taking pictures. However, it only heats up towards the right of the front speaker (it heats up on the front top right corner) on the phone. It heats up on the front, where the camera is situated directly beneath it. It is not unbearably hot. Anyone else have this problem? Is this normal?

It depends upon who's being grilled. If it's a lowly grunt, I'm against it. Low man on the totem usually knows next to nothing and will give crappy info just to end the torture. If it's a known high ranking big wig, I say bring out the rack, the thumb screws and the iron maiden.;) Get that bad boy to sing like a canary.

Why does Apple need my phone number? I just want to buy and use their products? (For an Apple ID, ie, if you want to use any apps, even free ones, Apple requires you to give them your personal data, in Apple's stores, they even ask for your ZIP code when your purchase anything, well at least in those stores I have been.)
You're right. Ideally they wouldn't need my info. In the grand scheme of things, I personally trust Apple more than I trust most other companies. I also expect to have a continuing long-term relationship with them, that includes person-to-person services in addition to sale of products. I also prefer to have a single point-of-contact I can use to sever any relationships I don't want to continue.
So for me it comes down to "who do you trust?" Apple has, historically, been very good about not subscribing me to mailings I don't want. They also never have sold my info (I know this because I use a different email address in a domain I own for every on-line business I do business with. From this I know who, exactly, sells my info. I just look at who my spam is addressed to).

I wonder which new moderator is going to clean up the mess mymemmory just made in here...
A post likely to turn this into another mymemmory bashing thread -- and it's not even a thread about women or body parts. :(

Cool. You're giving me some ideas for next month's desktop:). Great use of Nocturne, too.
Thanks, my inspiration came from here (http://rjd2k3.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d1qvc81)... It'd be cool to see what you come up with.
BTW, I'm not using Nocturne--I hacked my menu bar a while ago, before it was released, using a method someone suggested on these boards.

Not meaning to be a pain, but is the capacity 1,000,000,000 bytes/10^9 bytes/1 GB, or is it 1,073,741,824 bytes/2^30 bytes/1 GiB? Ignoring file formatting issues, of course.

how many Xserves are in that data centre? oh sorry I meant Mac minis...
Just doing the maths on how many Mac Minis it takes to get a Yottabyte of storage...
To get that much storage you would need 1,000,000,000,000 Mac Mini Servers which costed at full retail is 70x the US national debt.
Apple's 500,000 sq ft data centre usuing Doctor Q's 10 fot of usuable vertical space could hold 104,088,861 not accounting for heat dissapation cabling storage racks etc. Therefore you would need 9,607 data centres of the size of apple's current (which was rumored to cost $1billion). However that is a storage facility literally filled with no walking space between the racks or anything like that so a sensible suggestion would be to double that.
The total size of this project would be 9,607,000,000 sq ft or 344 sq miles. Turks and Caicos Islands (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turks_and_Caicos_Islands) happens to 366 sq miles, although to allow for expansion, shipping port/airport and power plants and other ancilallry buildings such as worker housing, supermarket and such I would suggest that Hong Kong with an area of 426 sq miles is a good place to start. Although given the high population of Hong Kong it isn't an ideal place to build such a facility, therefore the Faroe Islands with a size of 538 miles might be the first sensible place to wipe out. Alternatively you could just dump it in Texas/Alaska as they have plenty of land spare. Alaska would give you natural cooling which would be a bonus over Texas although can you image the series of Ice Road truckers, "In this haul is 100,000 Mac Minis."
All in all to go for something like large with some as inappropriate as a Mac Mini is a costly and ultimately bonkers idea.
Fingers crossed that the sums are correct.

That doesn't make it acceptable to torture him (or anyone else) - you can't win a war against terrorists by becoming a terrorist. Where would you draw the line and how do you determine that the line is in the "correct" place?
If you say it's OK to torture someone who knows a lot but won't tell you what he knows, how do you determine he's not telling you everything and therefore sanction torture? Before you know it, you are sanctioning torture against everyone "just in case" and it then becomes a routine part of any interrogation against anyone you capture.
I know there are no easy answers to this, and I don't know how I would react if my daughter's life was at risk and could be saved by torturing someone, but I do know that torture is wrong in and of itself and cannot be justified from a moral perspective
One thing I have not made clear, is that I agree that it is wrong, and immoral, but at the same time I think there are some cases where it is called for.
I do not advocate its use for ordinary soldiers or officers captured in a "real" war, but to be perfectly honest, I have zero compassion for the likes of KSM and people like him, to me this guy does not even deserve to be called a human being. Remember, this is the guy who beheaded Daniel Pearl, an innocent journalist.

Saft Demo
Anyone know how to remove Saft 7.5.5 Demo from Safari?
Thanks
If you haven't found the answer to your question here is what I did.
I found the answer on:
http://haoli.dnsalias.com/Saft/Installation/index.html
It recomends
Removal
Run Saft Installer and choose uninstall, or Move Saft in /Library/InputManagers to Trash.
I ran the Saft installer but did not get the choice to uninstall so I moved
/Library/InputManagers to Trash and that did the trick.

Is it possible to put someone on your ignore list only for certain forums. Basically, I would like to be able to ignore certain posters in the PRSI but still see their posts in other forums as they aren't bad outside of the PRSI. Is this possible at all?

From what I read there is no difference between a paid and non paid version in way of functions. The only difference is that it eliminates the nagware.
right, i was hoping to get rid of the nagware poping up in the lower left portion of my screen.

Wasn't Stargate (Defender) better? Also, help me out- were those Midway, and if so, did Atari own them?

OK, so Steve is making good on his promise of "Apple everywhere", hence the "Apple, Inc." conversion. But seriously, those of us outside the USA will not see the iPhone until late 07 (we follow the European market rather than the Asian), and while well get the units unlocked (so we need not worry about plans and cellular providers) thats still almost a year away.
While Ill be ordering the Apple TV and the new AP Extreme, the keynote left too many questions unanswered: Where are the Leopard previews? I doubt Apple will announce a special event just for its operating system and applications, so are we to wait until WWDC to get another look at the next OS? Is Apple abandoning its policy of a yearly upgrade to iLife? And what about the hardware (2ed generation Mac Pros / new portables etc)? Where are the expansions to international iTunes stores and iDisk?
Apple, Inc. is hardly a day old and already I dont like the way the company chose to announce new products :(
